Enduro – Bites

As you all know, endurance sports and nutrition go hand-in-hand just like navigation and maps; you can’t have one without the other. That’s why we kind of take it upon ourselves to weed through the vast amount of energy bars and nutritional products that are out there and try to bring you the best options for you as an athlete. Sometimes we stumble across ones that are so amazing we just have to share.

We were thrilled when we had the opportunity to put the Enduro Bites under review for two reasons; one, we appreciate any added energy on the trails to help increase our performance and two, just the sound of the flavors made our mouths water.

Dark Chocolate Espresso

Finally an energy bar that got the espresso flavor right! We’ve tested an extensive variety of coffee and espresso flavored energy bars, gels, and bites but none have come as close as Enduro Bites to getting it right. Being self-proclaimed bean aficionados we are really particular when it comes to anything of this nature. The Dark Chocolate Espresso Enduro Bites not only provide you with ample amounts of energy but makes you feel like you have a barista in your backpack.

We really love how the Dark Chocolate Espresso combines the bold taste of dark chocolate and robust flavor of espresso so nicely with the organic, fair-trade espresso from Copper Door. Topped with finely shredded coconut, the combination of coffee and 72% organic chocolate is almost like a dessert rather than an energy bar.

INGREDIENTS: Adriatic Figs, Brown Rice Syrup*, Raw and Unfiltered Honey, 72% Cocoa Mass Dark Chocolate* (Chocolate Liquor*, Dried Cane Syrup*, Cocoa Butter*, Soy Lecithin*, Vanilla*), Rice Flour, Rice Protein Concentrate, Virgin Coconut Oil*, Orange Juice from Concentrate (Concentrated Orange Juice, Water), Coffee Bean, Coconut, Lemon Juice*, Agave Nectar*, Baking Soda, Sea Salt* – *Organic

Fig and dark chocolate:

Enduro Bites had an epiphany when they decided to pair the dark chocolate with the mild taste of the fig. We found that the flavors really compliment each other nicely and that they just seemed to melt in your mouth. This is awesome for me because chewing while running is somewhat like a chore. Tell you the truth I have never been much a fig fan but the Enduro Bites have made me a believer. These are amazing!

In addition, Enduro Bites suggest you store your bites in the refrigerator or in the freezer to maintain their fresh-made taste. They won’t freeze solid, so you can grab them to eat right out of the freezer. We really like that they would still be slightly cool by the time we hit the trails and were still delicious hours after we left the trailhead.

With 72% organic dark chocolate infused with the moist Adriatic fig this flavor is made for anyone who craves that delicious chocolate taste. Enduro Bites has also sprinkled the Fig and Dark Chocolate flavor with oats, which make them the perfect fuel for long rides and even longer races.

INGREDIENTS: Adriatic Figs, Brown Rice Syrup*, Raw and Unfiltered Honey, 72% Cocoa Mass Dark Chocolate* (Chocolate Liquor*, Dried Cane Syrup*, Cocoa Butter*, Soy Lecithin*, Vanilla*), Rice Flour, Rice Protein Concentrate, Lemon Juice*, Virgin Coconut Oil*, Oat Bran, Orange Juice from Concentrate (Concentrated Orange Juice, Water),  Baking Soda, Sea Salt*, Vanilla Extract* – *Organic

Enduro Bites suggests that you eat one Bite ( 1 serving size) every 20 to 40 minutes during training and racing based on your caloric needs and fueling strategy. You can also consume 1 to 2 Enduro Bites immediately prior to training to get a head start on your fueling.

That means one pack of Enduro Bites will fuel even your toughest activity for anywhere from 1 hour up to 2 hours, most other gels and bars require you take them every 30 to 45 minutes to maintain effectiveness. So at $4.50 a bar it’s really a great deal considering what you get for you money.

We love the unique taste of the Enduro Bites and what the small company is trying to do for the name of endurance sports. We suggest you grab one of each flavor and judge for yourself, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed. You can check them out at endurobites.com.

See you on the trails!
